The trial rod device is used to accurately detect the descending condition of the burden so as to charge timely. It can prevent the over-burden and opening the large bell from propping the bell rod to make it bend and also prevent the top temperature from increasing so high due to the short burden to burn out the top equipment.

When the hoist roll drum of the trial rod rotates, the outer roll drum of the trial rod together with it moves driven through the steel rope; the outer roll drum drives the link roll drum which is coaxial with it to rotate to drive the link and heavy hammer, thus the role of the burden gauging is completed. The role of the isolation valve is to cut off the gas inside the furnace, so that the heavy and link can be taken out for replacement and repairing from the flat hole of the sleeve on the valve. Only when the trial rod is lifted to surpass the zero point of the burden line, the large charging bell starts to open for charging.
